Disciplinary Procedures

The rules you have to follow during your studies in the Department of Basic English depend on some principles. These rules and principles are shared with the students in the First Day Presentations and classroom boards that are shown to you by your teachers in the Orientation Program for Basic English Department Students at the beginning of each academic year. At the same time, all rules and principles are shared with the students on the School of Foreign Languages ​​website. Discipline Regulation of Higher Education Institutions in Higher Education Law is taken as basis in disciplinary procedures of Yıldız Technical University School of Foreign Languages. a. In-Class

 

Classroom Disciplinary Processes of the School of Foreign Languages ​​consist of the following steps:

 

1. When a problematic behavior occurs for the first time, the teacher warns the student and talks to him / her.

 

2. If problematic behavior persists, the teacher will fill out a document and sign it and ask the student to sign it.

 

3. The teacher submits the signed document to the Head of Basic English Department. The department head or assistant speaks to the student and warns the student about the consequences of the ongoing problematic behavior.

 

4. If problematic behavior is seen for the third time, the teacher will fill in one more report and submit it to the Department of Basic English and the disciplinary process will be initiated.

 

Depending on the problematic behavior, the disciplinary process can be initiated at an earlier stage.

 

b. Cheating or Attempt to Cheat

 

If the supervisor catches a student in the exams with any material that can be used to cheat or as a material that can be interpreted as an aid for cheating, s/he

 

1. Does not allow the student to continue the exam. The exam paper or question booklet of the student in question and all the documents that can be considered as the material for cheating are on the student are confiscated by the instructor.

 

2. The Incident Report Form which is included in the exam package is filled in in detail and submitted to the Head of Basic English Department with all the documents that can be considered as the material for cheating.

 

3. An investigation is launched according to the Disciplinary Code for Students of Higher Education Institutions, which can be accessed from Student tab of the website of the School of Foreign Languages.

 

As a result of the investigation, the penalties stipulated by the said Regulation shall apply to the student who has been proved to be cheating or attempting to cheat.

 

c. Plagiarism

 

Plagiarism is to partially or wholly present and publish the ideas, methods, data, works and publications of others as if they belonged to you without the necessary references or proper legal permission in accordance with scientific procedures. Plagiarism is considered as disciplinary offense according to YTU Student Disciplinary Regulation and the Disciplinary Code for Students of Higher Education Institutions and due disciplinary procedure is started for students who plagiarize.

 

The student who does not comply with the rules stated in the the Disciplinary Code for Students of Higher Education Institutions, including the rules mentioned above, is sent to the YTU SFL Disciplinary Board. As a result of the evaluation made by the YTU SFL Disciplinary Board, the student is punishable with warning, condemnation or suspension. In addition, the disciplinary committee decisions are processed in the student files.
