About

The Department of Modern Languages offers required and elective English courses for undergraduate students. With a highly diverse student body, the department implements a curriculum aligned with Yıldız Technical University’s mission and vision for students from various faculties and academic disciplines. The goal is for students to acquire the skills they will need in their future academic and professional careers, such as conducting research, accessing reliable sources, organizing information, presenting it appropriately in an academic setting, and delivering more effective presentations in their professional lives.

The Department of Modern Languages is responsible for preparing and updating the course materials and textbooks used for students’ work on current topics and texts. Throughout the semester, students complete the writing projects and assignments given to them and receive feedback on their work from instructors in the Department of Modern Languages.

Students are required to take the courses offered by the Department of Modern Languages as soon as they enter their respective departments. However, students who score at least 70 on the English Proficiency Exam administered at the end of the Compulsory Basic English Preparatory Program are exempt from the MDB 1031 and MDB 1032 courses.
