1. For all exams administered by the School of Foreign Languages, make sure you have your Yıldız Technical University student ID or another valid photo ID—such as a Turkish ID card, passport, driver’s license. Also, be sure to sign the box next to your name on the signature sheet.
2. Be in the exam room at least 10 minutes before the exam starts. Keep in mind that no extra time will be given to students who arrive late under any circumstances.
3. Cell phones, smartwatches, and/or electronic dictionaries are prohibited during exams. Turn off these devices, hand them in to your instructor, and don’t forget to retrieve them after the exam. It is your responsibility to retrieve your phone after the exam. Phones or smartwatches that are not turned in or that ring during the exam will result in the cancellation of your exam and the initiation of an investigation against you in accordance with Articles 5, 6, 7, and 8 of the Higher Education Institutions Student Disciplinary Regulations.
4. Bringing food or beverages into the exam room is prohibited. You may only have water with you.
5. Make sure there is nothing on your desk other than a watch, pen, eraser, water, and exam materials.
6. Students are prohibited from asking each other for pens, erasers, or other items during the exam.
7. Do not open your exam booklet until instructed to do so by the proctor.
8. Do not write anything until the proctor has finished making announcements and has started the exam.
9. As soon as the exam begins, be sure to check your exam booklet for any missing pages or questions.
10. If you have any problems or questions, simply raise your hand. The proctor will assist you.
11. Do not forget to write your first name, last name, student number, and packet number on the cover page of the exam booklet. The packet number will be provided by the proctor.
12. Supervisors will not answer any questions regarding the exam content under any circumstances.
13. You are not permitted to leave your seat or speak with other students during the exam.
14. Any student who leaves the exam room for any reason during the exam will not be allowed to re-enter under any circumstances.
15. You will absolutely not be permitted to leave the room during the first 30 minutes or the last 5 minutes of the exam.
16. In exams using an answer sheet, make sure you have correctly marked all your answers on the answer sheet. Students are solely responsible for any coding errors on the answer sheet. Only the information on the answer sheet will be considered during grading. No extra time will be given at the end of the exam to fill out the answer sheet. Only a pencil may be used for any markings on the answer sheet.
17. The exam papers of students who attempt to cheat, cheat, or assist others in cheating will be confiscated, and their exams will be deemed invalid. An investigation will be initiated against these students in accordance with Articles 5, 6, 7, and 8 of the Higher Education Institutions Student Disciplinary Regulations.
18. When the exam ends, do not leave your seat until the proctor has collected all exam materials.
19. Make sure you have handed in all exam materials to the proctor. Any missing documents will result in your exam being invalidated.
20. Students with any disability or long-term health condition must submit a written request explaining their situation, along with supporting documents or medical reports, to the Department of Basic English no later than 2 days before the exam to ensure the necessary exam accommodations can be made. Petitions and supporting documents/reports submitted on the day of the exam will not be accepted.
